Size chart

Use this size guide to find the correct size for Imperial Riding tall riding boots — including dressage boots, jumping boots, and kids' riding boots.

IR tall boots are measured in three dimensions — foot size (EU), calf width, and calf/shaft height. Many models are available in multiple calf width and height combinations (e.g. Short/Regular, Regular/Wide, Long/Narrow). Choose the combination that matches your measurements.

How to measure:

  • Foot size — take your usual shoe size in EU sizing. Tall boots typically run true to size; if between sizes, size up.
  • Calf width — measure around the widest part of your calf, ideally wearing your usual riding breeches/socks.
  • Calf height — measure from the floor to the back of your knee crease, with your boot heel flat on the floor and your leg slightly bent.

Each IR tall boot model has its exact calf width and height measurements in the product gallery — look for the size chart image for specific Short/Regular/Long and Narrow/Regular/Wide fit options.

Adult calf width & height — typical range

Adult IR tall boots (Olania Deluxe, Equix Allround) are cut in a matrix of calf widths (Narrow / Slim / Regular / Wide) and heights (Short / Regular / Long). Typical calf width at EU 38 ranges from 30.5 cm (Narrow) to 37.1 cm (Wide), and calf height ranges from 42.5 cm (Short) to 46.5 cm (Long). For exact measurements on your chosen model, refer to the size chart image in the product gallery — it shows the specific calf width and height for each Short/Regular/Long × Narrow/Slim/Regular/Wide combination in that boot.

This size chart is a guideline. If your measurements fall between fit options, choose the slightly looser combination — tall boots drop and settle with wear. A well-fitting tall boot should sit 1–2 cm above the back of the knee when new, and the calf should be snug but not constricting.

The Equix Allround is Imperial Riding's everyday tall boot in black — built for the rider who wants one pair that handles lessons, hacking and the odd competition rather than separate boots for each. The shaft sits at the cusp of dressage and jumping height, with a moderate stiffness that supports the leg without being uncomfortable on long days.

Available in three heights and four calf widths (including a slim option for narrower lower legs), so the fit goes well beyond a standard regular/wide split. A solid choice as a first pair of long boots or as a workhorse to spare a smarter dressage pair for showing.
