Schockemohle Bridle Fitting Guide

Buying a Schockmohle Bridle is an investment - and we want to help you get the perfect fit.

While all Schockemohle Bridles can be returned to us - for a full refund, they must be in brand-new condition. Therefore we would recommend that if you do try them on your horse, you ensure they are clean and dry and simply put it over their ears. Do not attach a bit and ride in the bridle. Again, if you do this, you will not be eligible for a full refund*.

For a perfect fitting of your noseband, use the "2-finger-rule": 2 fingers below the cheek bone and 2 fingers between the nose bone and the noseband.
This means when the bridle is on the horse, you should be able to fit 2 fingers between the horse's face and the noseband.

The first measurement (corner of mouth to corner of mouth) is taken from the corner of one side of the horse's mouth, up over the poll, behind the ears in a straight line, and down back to the corner of the other side  of the horse's mouth, on the other side of this head.

The second measurement (two fingers below the cheek bones) is taken with your index and middle finger, placed just beneath the bottom of the cheek bone, wrapping a tape measure around the horse's entire jaw/face in this place.

General Guidance on Bridle Fit

Schockemohle bridles on the whole are "true to size" and therefore if you already know your horse's size, you could well just go ahead and buy that.

However, some of the Anatomic Line and Equitus Line have special designs, extra padding and anatomical shaping. Therefore, it's highly recommended that you measure your horse properly.

We're happy to help and advise you as much as possible but we cannot be held liable for mistakes in measurements, so please if you can, try and ensure you measure correctly.

Help With Assembly & Bridle Fitting

Your Schockemohle bridle will come usually in separate pieces, tucked together, rather than already pre-buckled up. When you receive your bridle, it's important that you put it together correctly.

While we're sure that 99% of us know what parts go where, some of the Schockemohle bridles can be a little confusing - and if you're not familiar with say, a double bridle, it might be useful to refer to Schockemohle's video of how to assemble an English bridle in the correct way.
