Equestrian Stockholm Dressage Saddle Pad - Performance Chantelle
How to Choose the Right Size ES Dressage Saddle Pad
Equestrian Stockholm dressage saddle pads come in three sizes: Cob, Full, and Extra Full. The right size depends on your saddle length — your pad should sit slightly longer than the saddle flap on both sides, without bunching under the girth straps or slipping backwards during work.
Here's a quick guide based on saddle seat size:
- Extra Full — fits saddles from 18" and up. This is the go-to for longer-flapped dressage saddles and riders who prefer extra coverage.
- Full — fits saddles from 16" to 17.5". The most popular size and suits the majority of standard dressage saddles.
- Cob — fits saddles 15" and smaller. Ideal for cob-type horses or smaller ponies in dressage-style saddles.
If you're between sizes, we'd generally recommend going up. A slightly larger pad sits better than one that's too small and shifts during your ride.
This page covers Dressage saddle pad sizing. If you ride in a GP, jumping, or event saddle, head to our ES Jump Saddle Pad Size Chart instead — the shape and measurements are different.
ES Dressage Saddle Pad Measurements
The diagram below shows where dimensions A, B, and C are measured on the pad. Use a soft tape measure along your current saddle pad or saddle flap to compare.

|---|---|---|---|
| Extra Full | 64.5cm / 25.5 in | 57.5cm / 22.5 in | 67.5cm / 26.5 in |
| Full | 62cm / 24.5 in | 54cm / 21 in | 64cm / 25 in |
| Cob | 56cm / 22 in | 50cm / 19.5 in | 62cm / 24.5 in |
Sizing Tips
ES dressage pads have a contoured, close-fitting cut designed specifically for dressage saddle flaps. A few things worth knowing:
- The measurements above are flat measurements — the pad will sit slightly differently once shaped around your saddle.
- ES pads hold their shape well after washing, so the size you start with is the size you'll keep.
- If you're using a half pad underneath, you may want to go up a size to accommodate the extra bulk.

Sportive Chantelle - a warm beige with black detailing. Understated performance style.
The Sportive Dressage Saddle Pad from Equestrian Stockholm is built for performance. Featuring decorative mesh detailing and a light gold Equestrian Stockholm badge, the Sportive range brings a sporty edge to your schooling sessions.
Designed with a focus on breathability and function, this pad keeps your horse comfortable during hard work. The material is lightweight and wicking, so it dries quickly between rides.
Anatomically shaped to sit up into the gullet of the saddle and not pull down on the horses withers - a style that stays put and fits dressage saddles just perfectly.
Style with other pieces from the Sportive Chantelle collection for a beautifully coordinated look.
Equestrian Stockholm Dressage Saddle Pads are a typical fit and will fit almost all horses, saddles and riders.
Dressage saddle pads from Equestrian Stockholm work well for dressage saddles. They can also be used for General Purpose (GP) and VSD saddles - although most riders prefer to opt for a Jump Saddle Pad for those types of saddles.
The size of your saddle pad should be based on the length of your saddle, and should always be slightly longer than the saddle.
As a general guide:
Extra Full - from size 18" and up
Full - from size 16" and up
